Review – KitKat Chunky Peanut Butter

imageThe humble Kit Kat has been the Break time snack for decades. A simple Wafer Chocolate combo that you have to split the fingers and eat separately (We certainly don’t encourage people just taking a bite without breaking the fingers apart!)

A few years ago Kit Kat expanded the range and included a new line of Chunky Kit Kat’s. Bigger 3 piece bars that are flavoured. Being a Peanut Butter flavour fan when I say this bar i just had to try one. Apologies for the single bar in the photo, I had to eat one prior to taking the photos. It was that good.

The bar is good. A mix of crunch and chocolate. Texture is important when searching for the worlds greatest chocolate bar. The peanut butter isn’t too overpowering and ads a balance to the bar. All in all a winner.

Review – Cadbury Snow Flake

The Cadbury Snow Flake is a special a regularFlake made from Cadbury Dream white chocolate. This is then coated in the famous Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. The result is a sweet crumbly flake that has a bit more body due to the coating. Similar in texture to a Twirl.

Review – Violet crumble

onedabar-5The Violet Crumble, The bar to seperate the crowd from Crunchie Lovers to Violet Crumble. Some prefer one to the other. The Violet Crumble is made by Nestle, a 50G bar of hard crunchy honeycomb covered in milk chocolate. It’s tag line “It’s the way is shatters that matters” refers to the fact the honeycomb is a lot more crumbly and crunchy than the runchie which has a chewy texture.

Review – Mars Honeycomb – Limited Edition

Mars Honeycomb
The limited edition MARS Honeycomb flavour was a let down. It tasted pretty much as a regular Mars bar. The honeycomb was in the nougat although the only presence was visual from its bright yellow colour. The flavour was so slight it was almost not noticeable. A few small pieces of honeycomb for texture should have been added to the nougat which would also add to the flavour and overall experience. This I think would have made the bar superb.

Overall its still a decent bar, being a Mars product, although I can’t see it staying on shelves long.

Review – Cadbury Flake

The Cadbury Flake - The crumbliest milk chocolate

The Cadbury Flake – The crumbliest milk chocolate

The Cadbury Flake has been around since the 1920’s. It’s a simple bar made purely of Cadbury’s famous glass and a half chocolate. It’s made by allowing sheets of molten chocolate fall and cool into bars. Made famous by being placed in a Soft Serve ice cream cone, the Flake 99 was a treat to many a child around the world.

Being a simple bar, the flake is made purely of chocolate. Light in texture and a small crumble as you bite into it. They have been made in many specialty forms over the years. As a child I remember the joy of discovering the Snow Flake and the Luxury Flake.

A simple bar that is still a favourite to many. The folded thin chocolate is replicated in the newer Twirl which is differed as it is also covered in Milk Chocolate.
